Cookie policy

This site sets no cookies. This page explains what that means, what happens instead, and what would have to change before a cookie ever appeared here.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small piece of text that a website asks your browser to store and send back on later requests, which is how a site can recognise a returning browser. Cookies are used for genuinely necessary things such as keeping someone signed in, and also for analytics and advertising that follow a person between sites.

This site sets none

Momentum Space sets no cookies of its own, of any kind, on any page. No first-party cookie is created, and there is no session identifier, no preference cookie and no login cookie, because there is nothing on this site to sign in to and no setting to remember.

No third party is permitted to set a cookie through this site either. Concretely, this site carries:

  • no analytics of any kind, and no measurement or attribution service;
  • no advertising network, no ad server and no retargeting tag;
  • no conversion pixel from any advertising platform;
  • no social media buttons, embedded posts, video embeds or comment systems;
  • no chat widget, no A/B testing tool and no heatmap or session recording tool;
  • no JavaScript library loaded from a content delivery network.

Because nothing is set, no consent is needed, and you will not see a cookie banner anywhere on this site. That absence is deliberate. A banner asking permission for cookies on a site that sets none would be a false statement about what the site does.

What happens instead

Two things occur that are worth stating plainly, because a page claiming that absolutely nothing happens would be inaccurate.

Server logs

The hosting provider's server records ordinary request logs: the IP address making the request, the browser's user agent string, the URL requested, the response status and the time and date. This is standard web server operation rather than tracking, it does not involve a cookie, and nothing is stored in your browser. These logs are kept for 30 days and are used for security and diagnostics only. The privacy policy sets this out in full.

Web fonts

Pages load two typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests a stylesheet and font files from Google's servers. Google receives your IP address and standard request headers as part of that request. No cookie is set by it. Google's handling of such requests is described in the Google privacy policy. Blocking requests to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com leaves this site entirely readable, in a substitute typeface.

Browser storage and fingerprinting

This site uses no localStorage, no sessionStorage, no IndexedDB and no other browser storage mechanism. Nothing is written to your device by any page here.

No fingerprinting is performed. No script on this site reads your screen dimensions, installed fonts, canvas rendering, audio stack, hardware details or any other characteristic for the purpose of recognising your browser. The only script on the site opens the mobile menu, the navigation dropdowns and the accordions; it is first-party, unminified and readable at /assets/main.js if you would like to check.

Controlling cookies in your browser

Nothing here needs blocking, but browser controls apply across every site you visit and are worth knowing. Every major browser lets you view the cookies currently stored, delete them individually or all at once, block third-party cookies, block all cookies, and clear site data when the browser closes. These settings usually sit under privacy or site settings in the browser's preferences, and private or incognito windows discard cookies and storage when the window is closed. Blocking all cookies breaks sign-in on many sites, which is why blocking third-party cookies is the more common setting.

If this ever changes

There is no plan to add cookies, analytics or advertising tracking to this site. If that changed, three things would happen before anything was set: this page would be rewritten to name each cookie, its purpose and its lifetime; the privacy policy would be updated to match; and a working consent mechanism would be in place first, so that nothing non-essential was set before a reader agreed to it. The effective date above would change on the same day.
